1. Person in charge of personal information

The person in charge of the protection of personal information is Donald Loignon. For any question or request about your information: info@donaldguitar.com.

2. Information we collect and why

We only collect the information needed for the purposes listed below, and only from you.

Contact form

• Information: name, email address, subject and message.
• Why: to reply to your message.

Shop purchases

• Information: first name, last name, email address and the products ordered. For shipped products (CD, T-shirt, pick): mailing address and, if needed, phone number.
• Why: to process and deliver your order, send you the confirmation and the MP3 download links, answer your questions and meet our accounting and tax obligations.
• Payment: card payments are processed directly by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
• Customer account: creating an account is optional. Any order, even a free one, can be placed without an account.
• Order source: the shop (WooCommerce) records where an order comes from (referring site, landing page, device type) to better understand how visitors discover the music.

Newsletter

• Information: email address, first and last name (optional), language, chosen topics (compositions and albums, guitar videos, blog posts), and the date, time and IP address of your consent.
• Why: to send you the news you chose, in your language, and to be able to prove your consent.
• How: your subscription must be confirmed through a confirmation email (double opt-in). Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link. A purchase in the shop never subscribes you to the newsletter automatically.

“Your musical world” quiz

• Information: your answers, language, device type and an encrypted, non-reversible fingerprint of your IP address used to prevent abuse. Your email address is only requested if you choose to receive a reward or the newsletter.
• Why: to give you a personalized result and improve the site’s content.

Visit statistics

• Information: pages viewed, visit length, device and browser type, approximate region.
• Why: to learn which pages interest visitors and improve the site, using Google Analytics. These statistics are only enabled if you accept them in the cookie banner.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

On your first visit, a banner lets you accept or refuse non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time with the cookie settings button or in your browser settings.

The site also uses your browser’s session storage to remember that a promotional announcement has already been shown to you. This information is erased when you close the tab.

4. Third-party content

Video pages display YouTube videos, and the site links to music platforms and social networks (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Spotify, etc.). When you play a video or follow one of these links, those services may collect information under their own privacy policies.

5. Sharing and service providers

We never sell, rent or trade your personal information. We only share it with the providers needed to run the site, who must protect it and use it only to serve us:

• Brevo (France): sending the newsletter and confirmation emails;
• Stripe: card payment processing;
• Google (United States): visit statistics (Google Analytics), if you accept them;
• CookieYes: managing your cookie consent;
• our web host: hosting the site and its data.

Some of these providers store information outside Quebec, notably in Europe and the United States. Before entrusting them with information, we make sure they offer adequate protection. We may also disclose information when required by law.

6. Retention

• Orders: as long as tax laws require, generally six years after the end of the year of the transaction.
• Contact form messages: as long as needed to handle your request, at most two years.
• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. Proof of your consent and of your unsubscription may be kept longer to comply with the law.
• Quiz: answers are used for statistics and do not directly identify you; your email is removed on request.
• Statistics: according to the retention period set in Google Analytics, at most 14 months.

At the end of these periods, the information is deleted or anonymized.

7. Security

The site is protected by an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to information is limited to the people who need it, and our providers apply their own security measures. If a confidentiality incident presented a risk of serious injury, we would notify you and the Commission d’accès à l’information, as required by law.

8. Your rights

At any time, you may:

• ask to see the information we hold about you and get a copy, including in a structured, commonly used technological format;
• have inaccurate, incomplete or equivocal information corrected;
• withdraw your consent, for example by unsubscribing from the newsletter or changing your cookie choices;
• ask for your information to be deleted, subject to our legal obligations (for example, tax records of orders).

Write to info@donaldguitar.com. We will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

9. Minors

The site is not intended for children under 14. They must not place orders, subscribe to the newsletter or send us personal information without the consent of a parent or guardian.

10. Changes

This policy may be updated, for example when a new feature is added to the site. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page.
