I’m pleased to introduce the new version of my Donald Guitar website!
Music and programming have always been two great passions of mine. Two different worlds, but with so much in common: creativity, perseverance, the joy of learning and that constant desire to take on new challenges.
How music led me to programming
Several years ago, it was music that first sparked my interest in web programming.
At the time, I had created my first website, le Répertoire des artistes québécois, a directory of Quebec artists. I wanted to help people discover artists and their music, but to bring that project to life, I had to learn how to program and build databases.
My brother, Luc Loignon, taught me a great deal in this field. He helped me discover programming and understand how databases work. His knowledge and advice were invaluable as I was getting started.
After that, I kept learning on my own, experimenting and expanding my knowledge. What began as a personal project eventually became a true passion, and then my profession.
Why redesign my Donald Guitar website?
I wanted to breathe new life into my website, but above all, I wanted to take on another personal challenge.
Even after all these years in programming, I still enjoy creating, discovering new ways of doing things and continuing to learn.
It was also a wonderful opportunity to bring my two passions together in a single project.
For a while now, I’ve been regularly sharing my guitar videos on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.
These platforms have become a great source of motivation for me. They encourage me to practise more, work on new techniques, revisit solos I love and keep developing my own compositions.
So I wanted a place of my own where I could bring my videos together, share my music and give people a closer look at my musical world.
The joy of learning never fades
Whether I’m programming or playing guitar, I’ve always wanted to understand, experiment and improve.
I’m largely self-taught in both fields, although I’ve been fortunate to meet people who have shared their knowledge with me over the years.
And what I especially love is that there’s always something left to learn!
A new guitar technique, an idea for a composition, a new programming technology… There’s always a challenge that makes you want to keep going.
Ultimately, this new website is much more than a redesign. It’s a project that reflects who I am, brings my passions together and expresses my desire to keep creating, learning and growing.
I invite you to explore it, listen to my compositions, watch my videos and follow my next musical adventures.
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to listen and encourage me!
